Your Art, Your Story
March 8 through April 20, 2019
Area students tell visual stories reflecting their experiences and interests in Your ART- Your STORY, Chandler Gallery’s annual exhibit of student art. Ten area schools and students in Pre K through Grade 12 are contributing two- and three-dimensional work to this exhibit in a variety of mediums. See the imaginative interpretations of self-portraits, masks, imaginary creatures, and landscapes in this colorful and vibrant exhibit.
There will be a collaborative felted story quilt by middle school students, festival murals celebrating Day of the Dead by accomplished high school artists, and a multimedia mural of migration in the natural world created by 3-7 year olds. These are a few of the pieces that are part of a nationwide celebration of the creative endeavors of students each March for Youth Art Month (YAM).
Attend the opening reception on Friday March 8th from 5-7pm and stroll through a forest of wire trees or inspect a person’s reflection on summer memories. Consider extending your artistic evening by watching the youth talent show, Mini Mud, in Chandler Music Hall beginning at 7 that night.
Chandler Gallery is open Fridays and Saturdays from 12-6 and during performances. Your ART–Your STORY will be open through April 20th.
Student work from Barnard Academy, Bethel Elementary School, Braintree Elementary School, Brookfield Elementary School, East Valley Academy, Killington Elementary School, Randolph Elementary School, Randolph Union High School, Rochester Elementary School, Stockbridge Central School, and White River Valley Middle and High Schools is included in this exhibit.
Participating art educators who support Youth Art Month include Craig Wiltse, Malia Timmerman, Janet Cathey, Heather MacAskill, Cynthia McPhetres, Candy VandeGriek, Abby Goodrich and Rebbie Carleton.
