Questions and Answers
March 25-April 23
Opening reception Saturday March 25, 5:30-7 pm
Questions and their open-ended answers are at the heart of the creative process. This Chandler Gallery exhibit shows the creative questions students engage in as they create art. It includes work from ten area schools created by students in pre-K through Grade 12. This yearly exhibit of student work hosted by the Gallery during nationwide Youth Art Month advocates for art education that develops creative and flexible problem solvers with 21st century skills.
This year work will be exhibited by students at the Roxbury, Sharon, Brookfield, Braintree, South Royalton, Bethel, and Randolph Elementary Schools as well as high school work from Randolph Union High School, Whitcomb, and South Royalton High School. You will see elementary work that explores Alexander Calder’s innovative circus and the process of weaving. Ancient art and cultures were explored as third and fourth grade students created their own version of China’s Nine Dragon Wall and Terra Cotta Army.
Randolph Union High School students will show an interesting collaboration of art and music created with the Community Engagement Lab project that expresses visual emotional reactions to a piece of music. There will be a performance with John Jorgenson that showcases this project at Chandler April 8th.
The exhibit will open with a reception from 5:30-7pm on Saturday March 25th before the Mini Mud youth talent show. You can see the exhibit Fridays and Saturdays from 12-6pm, during Chandler performances, and by appointment through April 23rd. We always need volunteer Gallery Docents to keep the exhibits open for the community so consider supporting the arts and sign up for a 3-hour shift.
