RENDERING: Cause to Become
June 29th through September 1st, 2019
This unique group exhibition showcases the art of creating images and brings together Chris Wilson’s portrait sculptures, Joan Feierabend’s paintings, and drawings by both Stephanie Suter and Nick DeFriez. Chris Wilson is from Randolph, and he developed his love of the sculptural form from an early age. Chris’s part of the show tells a touching story about people from Randolph neighborhoods. “For me”, says Chris, “success comes when people closest to a subject feel a burst of energy from their loved one as they first enter the room to see a sculpture.” Joan Feierabend from East Randolph enhances the show with her captivating paintings. “Creating images is the way I navigate through life,” says Joan. Nick DeFriez from Chelsea includes in the show the renderings that “are concerned with the process of drawing within a given framework.” Stephanie Suter from Tunbridge complements the show with her gentle intimate drawings: “To render is to depict, to cause to become, to make an image that is recognizable.” Stephanie is “interested in the process of observation that makes this possible.” This Chandler Gallery group show invites all to explore the fascinating renderings of these artists.
